If you’re looking for a family getaway that’s full of adventure, stunning scenery, and kid-approved activities, Sedona should be at the top of your list. We’ve been visiting with our kids for years, and it’s one of those destinations that keeps surprising us. Here’s our sample weekend itinerary in Sedona with kids - fun for the whole family, easy to manage, and packed with memorable experiences. You can check out a Sedona Weekend Trip Vlog and here is a Sedona Day Trip Vlog

Boynton Canyon Vortex Trail Sedona Arizona

Day 1

Explore the Energy Vortex Trail

Start your weekend with a little adventure on the Boynton Canyon Vortex Trail. This is one of Sedona’s most famous energy vortex spots, and it’s surprisingly kid-friendly. The trail is relatively easy and perfect for kids to explore without getting too tired. Along the way, you’ll be treated to some of the most iconic red rock views in Sedona, making it a scenic start to your trip. You can GPS to the parking lot, and there is a kiosk in the lot to pay for parking. There was no spots available so my husband dropped me and the kids off and then went and parked somewhere along the road. I highly recommend having AllTrails up for this trail so you don't end up on the longer trail. One thing about hiking in Sedona is you will need a carrier for the baby. It's not the most stroller friendly destination. These are the two that I've used for years: Hard Backpack Carrier

Soft Carrier - Good for newborns and up, I've used with both of my sons and love it. It's easy to adjust and it's easy to wash after a day outside.

Uptown Sedona Shopping and Fudge

After your hike, head to Uptown Sedona for some shopping. The kids will love browsing the local shops filled with crystals, rocks, and unique souvenirs. Don’t forget to stop for homemade fudge, it’s a family favorite and a perfect treat after an active morning. This area of the trip is very stroller friendly and you will want one for babies or toddlers to have a break and maybe even a stroller nap.

One of the best Travel Strollers we've ever used: Inglesina Quid 3 Here is a video review of this stroller: Instagram

Lunch at the Only Blue McDonald’s in the World

Sedona is home to a McDonald’s unlike any other - the only blue McDonald’s in the world! It’s a fun, quirky stop that the kids will remember, and it’s a quick way to grab lunch or even just some fries before continuing your day.

Day 2

Swimming at Bootlegger Picnic Area

No Sedona trip with kids is complete without some water fun. Head to the Bootlegger Picnic Area natural swimming hole. This spot is a hidden gem, perfect for cooling off in the summer. The area is safe for kids, with shallow spots for little ones and deeper pools for older kids to splash around. There is no hike to get to the water. You can pay for parking in the parking lot. They also have bathrooms in the parking lot.

Make sure to have Water Shoes, it's rocky.

Pack a cooler: this one from RTIC is a recent favorite. It stays cold, is easy to pack and carry. It's also durable enough for outdoor adventures.

Pink Jeep Tour Sedona Arizona

Pink Jeep Tour

End your Sedona weekend with a Pink Jeep Tour. These guided tours take you off-road to some of Sedona’s most breathtaking and otherwise inaccessible spots. It’s exciting, family-friendly, and a must-do activity that kids and adults alike will rave about. They have so many tours to choose from. I've even gone while pregnant, so just choose one that's good for your family. They also have totally paved road options.

Why Sedona is Perfect for Families

From easy hikes and natural swimming holes to quirky stops like the blue McDonald’s and Uptown shops, Sedona has something for every family. Staying at family-friendly hotels like Southwest Inn or Hyatt Vacation Club at Pinion Pointe makes it easy to plan your trip around your kids’ energy levels, ensuring everyone has a great time. They also have the amenities to be able to just relax and enjoy the red rock energy and views from your hotel.

No matter your kids’ ages, a weekend in Sedona can be both relaxing and adventurous. With a mix of outdoor activities, unique stops, and easy accommodations, it’s one of our favorite family trips time and time again.
